Mission and Vision

Department of Medical Genetics in Ege University is the first established medical genetics department in Turkey, which was founded in 2003. The Department of Medical Genetics has branches of cytogenetics, molecular cytogenetics, molecular genetics and clinical genetics.

Our mission is to achieve excellence in medical genetics teaching, research, and patient care by the following princeples;

• Aiming excellence in all of our teaching and training programmes
• Collaborations both within an outside our University
• Maintaining the high quality of our clinical and laboratory services
• To make scientific researches that will contribute to the literature
• Maintaining the high quality of our services with full integration with our research and teaching activities.
• All of our activities related to education, research and public services must be conducted within an appropriate ethical framework that reflects the rights and responsibilities of patients, students, and colleagues and our obligations to the society in which we work.

To maintain this mission, we apply basic and clinical research for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genetic disease. Our goal is to be the best in the research, clinical practice, and teaching of Genetic Medicine not only for our country, but also the best in the world. In the light of  the mission mentioned above, in case of demand, services in almost all fields of genetics are provided to all organizations in need.
